The Berlin Woolwork Sampler by Darlene O'Steen of The Needle's Prayse. Now reproduced by Needle WorkPress.
This sampler was originally worked on 24 count Congress Cloth (White or Ivory) in wool but most stitchers have preferred to work it on linen with silk or cotton threads.
If you want it to be close to the size of the Congress Cloth, choose Dublin linen (26 count) for your fabric, working in 2-3 strands of NPS or DMC cotton . Otherwise a 28 count linen is a great option. You can stitch it on your choice of colour, suggestions are Zweigart Cream, Flax, Platinum or Dirty Linen (darker). Permin 'Lambswool' would also be suitable.
Linen cut size: 26 & 28 count: 45cm x 140cm
Linen cut size: 36 & 40 count: 45cm x 140cm
This allows 3" on each side for framing. |
