SIT & STITCH - Saturday Afternoons
 
On Saturday afternoons we open the shop for Sit & Stitch. This is your opportunity to bring along a current project, or to start a new one and then take time out to stitch in the company of others. We are there to help, and answer questions but no tuition is provided. Come and join us in our inspiring and relaxing workspace, we are limited by size (max 12), so bookings are essential. Cost per person is $20.
Coffee & tea is available at class or we have The Marian Street Café next door.

 WEEKLY CLASSES

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning's throughout the year we hold in store sit & stitch classes with our local needlework tutor. Classes are held from 10am - 1pm.

If you have a project that you need some help on or would just like to stitch in the company of others, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you. Our tutor will be there to answer your questions, provide guidence, and encouragement when necessary! Come and join us for a morning each week to get that project underway or completed. We are limited by size (maximum 12), so bookings are essential. Coffee & tea is available at class, or we have The Marian Street Café nex door.

Tuition pre-paid for the full term is $30 per class (spot secured) .

WORKSHOPS - 2025




THE BERLIN WOOL WORK SAMPLER - Facilitator & Tutor: Michelle King
This stunning sampler is made-up of 106 motifs, a multi-stitch canvaswork or counted thread sampler presented in a nine-part series.
FULLY BOOKED
Dates: Commencing 28 March, 2025. Three core workshops then optional monthly SAL classes finishing November 2025.
Timing: 1.00pm - 3.30pm
Tuition Cost: $65 per person, per month for 3 months/ workshops (28 March, 2 May & 6 June). $130.00 payment required to secure your spot.
Materials Kit: Participants are required to purchase (or may have already purchased) the nine Berlin Woolwork Sampler Charts (Needle's Prayse - Darlene O'Steen) now republished ny NeedleWork Press. The cost of the nine parts is $252, if purchased together the discounted price is $220.

Coffee & tea is available at class, or we have The Marian Street Café next door.
 



PORTUGUESE WHITEWORK HANGING ORNAMENT - Designer & Tutor: Yvette Stanton
Four designs to choose from, you will only work on one design during the workshop.
Two day workshop: Friday 14 November & Saturday 15 November
Timing: 10.00am - 3.00pm
Tuition Cost: $220

A yummy home baked morning tea/ coffee is included in the workshop cost, BYO working lunch.

HEDEBO BALDYRING POUCH - Designer & Tutor: Michelle Hudson
Hedebo  embroidery is a traditional Danish cutwork embroidery which is made up of a number of different variations.  Baldyring, is one such variety which was popular in the  1850’s  and this elegant small pouch, combines drawn thread techniques along with delicate  surface embroidery and was inspired by a historical piece from the Greve Museum collection in Denmark.
 
Two day workshop: Days held one month apart: Saturday 21 March & Saturday 18 April 2026
Timing: 10.30am - 3.30pm
Tuition Cost: $220 per person, 50% deposit required to secure your spot.

DUTCH SEWING AND MENDING SAMPLER 
- Designer & Tutor: Michelle Hudson
This redwork band sampler, inspired by a vintage Dutch sewing and mending piece from the early 1900s, celebrates the quiet artistry of repair and the work of skilled hands. Intricate drawn-thread patterns, precise Holbein stitch, and a rich variety of pattern-darning motifs and techniques come together to reproduce this gorgeous sampler.

Two day workshop: Days held one month apart: Saturday 26 September & Saturday 24 October 2026
Timing: 10.30am - 3.30pm
Tuition Cost: $220 per person, 50% deposit required to secure your spot.

Classes at The Crewel Gobelin are limited in size to 12 participants, so if you are interested please secure your spot with a deposit to avoid disappointment. We are happy to take expressions of interest when a class is being developed, but once a class has been finalised and is open for enrolments your place is not guaranteed without full or part payment. Class payments need to be finalised one month prior to a class taking place. Bookings can be made online, by phone or in person.

If a class is cancelled by The Crewel Gobelin all tuiton fees paid will be refunded. If a student is unable to attend a class and their place is unable to be filled from a waiting list, the deposit and class fee paid may not be refunded.

Please note that the projects and designs taught at The Crewel Gobelin and available for sale in kits (all or part thereof) remain the property of the designer/ teacher and cannot be reproduced, sold or taught without their permission.
